Low Airfares

Low Airfares Doesn't Translate To Ruined Luggage

Low Airfares

Low airfares often seem like a thing of the past when travelers contact airlines. With the rising costs of gas and other expenses airlines have had to incur, offering low airfares has become increasingly difficult. Through a little research, time, and patience, however, it is possible to obtain low airfares to even the most popular of destinations.

Once you have landed some great tickets for low airfares, it is time to turn your attention to the trip itself. One area that many travelers become concerned about is their luggage. Don't worry, just because you found low airfares, it doesn't mean that your luggage won't be properly cared for. In order to further guarantee the safety of your luggage and its contents, try following these few simple steps.

Make Your Luggage Unique

One of the best ways to make sure you can spot your luggage, whether you found low airfares or not, is to find a way to make your luggage unique. Sew special patches on your luggage or put stickers on the outside that will make it easier for you to spot your luggage as it is being unloaded from the plane. Black, soft luggage is extremely popular these days. While this luggage is certainly quite attractive, it makes it difficult to distinguish from that of other passengers.

Keep Your Luggage Locked

When flying in the United States, you will run the risk of having your lock forced open when you lock your luggage. Just because you saved money with your low airfares, it certainly doesn't mean that you have the extra cash to purchase a new set of luggage each time you fly. At the same time, just because you worked hard to find low airfares, it doesn't mean that you have nothing that a thief would be interested in. Therefore, you will need to compromise and use the specially approved locks that have been approved for use in the United States airports. These locks will keep your luggage safe from thieves but can still be opened by airport security if necessary.

Check Your Luggage Before Leaving

Just because you paid low airfares, it doesn't mean the airline employees will purposely abuse your luggage. Nonetheless, it still happens to those that pay both high and low airfares. Therefore, before you ever leave the airport, check to make sure the luggage is not damaged in any way. If there is damage, be sure to report the damage to the airline. Even if you paid low airfares, you are entitled to compensation if damage was caused to your luggage.

Remove Old Tags

The fact that you are a pro at low airfares does not mean you need to show it off -so, be sure to remove those old baggage tags and name tags. If you leave extra tags on your bag, it will be confusing to the baggage handlers and can cause your luggage to be delayed. Just keep one name tag on the luggage and leave it at that.
